Keeping durian fresh at home (and your fridge smell-free)

Fresh durian flesh is at its absolute best within hours of the fruit opening. After that, the clock runs — but a few simple habits will keep your second serving tasting remarkably close to the first.
The first 24 hours
Keep the box sealed and chilled from the moment it arrives. Our boxes are packed airtight, so resist the urge to open and re-open — every peek lets aroma escape and moisture shift. Serve what you plan to eat, seal the rest immediately.
Beyond a day: freeze it
For anything past 24 hours, move the flesh to the freezer in an airtight container. Frozen durian keeps its flavour for up to a month — the texture turns softer and creamier, almost like durian ice cream when eaten half-thawed. Many regulars deliberately freeze half their order for exactly this reason.
Thaw overnight in the fridge, never on the counter. And if the flesh ever turns sour, fizzy or watery on our watch — snap a photo and message us the same day. We replace it, no questions asked.
